40 Trips, 365 Days
A Year of Wandering (and Sometimes Just Hopping on a Bus).
This year started with a simple goal: 40 mini adventures in a year. Nothing too fancy, just a promise to ourselves to do something out of the ordinary, as often as possible. A day trip, a ferry ride, a stroll through a sculpture park, or a completely accidental detour involving a steam train (we’re weak for steam trains).
We’re based in the UK, but we’ll happily wander wherever the mood (or Easyjet, or Stenalines) takes us, Ireland, the islands, Europe and beyond. So far this year we’ve had an unforgettable trip to Iceland and visited friends in sunny Málaga (Blog posts coming soon!) But even a pitch and putt in the next county or a slow canal boat ride counts in our book.
We love planning (and over-planning), but the best bits are usually the unexpected ones. This blog is where we’re collecting it all; the helpful tips, funny fails, and those “oh you must go there” notes. For future us… and maybe future you too?
In the past, we’ve done the NC500, the Wild Atlantic Way, and a dreamy road trip across Ontario. But this year’s all about slowing down, saying yes to the quirky stuff, and remembering that even a local gallery can be a portal to adventure.
Thanks for popping in! Please say Hi, send recommendations, or share your own offbeat travel stories. The more unusual the mode of transport, the better.
Let’s wander; whether it’s to the next town, or the next time zone.
